The 2019 schedule is set for the Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA) with 17 shows set at eight different tracks.
The NLRA is in its 22nd year of existence and has been a big boost to late model racing in the region.
The NLRA opens on June 1 at Devils Lake Speedway in Crary, N.D., which is one of three stops at that track. Five nights are scheduled at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks while Greenbush Race Park hosts three events.
Viking Speedway in Alexandria hosts its annual Labor Day weekend doubleheader on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
There will be single stops at Jamestown Speedway (June 20), Nodak Speedway in Minot (Aug. 4), Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo (Aug. 17) and Sheyenne Speedway in Lisbon (Aug. 18).
East Grand Forks driver Dustin Strand was the 2018 NLRA champion over veteran Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg. The title was Strand’s third. Brad Seng of Grand Forks and the late John Seitz of Bemidji each won the series four times, while Balcaen has won three. Ricky Weiss, Cody Skytland and Troy Schill are two-time champs while Matt Aukland and Troy Olson (shared with Skytland in 2006) each won one.
A total of 79 different drivers competed in NLRA events in 2018. Eight different drivers won features, led by Strand with four and Balcaen, Donny Schatz and Weiss with two each.
